About School

"There are four primary schools in the Suchy Las District and Szkoła Podstawowa Nr 2 im. Jana Pawła II is the biggest one with 703 students and 81 teachers. The students are 7-15 years old and the school lasts 8 years. The school building is new, large, well equipped and welcoming - there are also facilities for students with disabilities. Suchy Las Primary School is a suburban school and on one hand has got access to many attractions offered by a big city, on the other hand it still has got an atmosphere of a village school. The school is known for its high level of teaching, modern methods and great achievements. Apart from the basic school schedule, there are supplementary classes for students who want to extend their knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, IT, Geography, Biology and foreign languages (English, German and Spanish). The students regulary take part in competitions, where they produce very good results. Young artists and journalists participate in a variety of workshops. The exam results classify our school among the best in the region. The students enjoy working in European projects with students from other European countries. Every year a group of students takes part in school exchange with a German school from Isernhagen, but the most popular among them are the European projects. The students appreciate their great value and the opportunity they give to them. Such a need results in their high motivation and significant involvement. Working in international groups the students will gain important experience and new skills, especially language and IT skills. They will widen their knowledge of areas which are not the subjects of school education. This project will concentrate on politics seen as local and regional activities preparing the students to their future lives in their local societies. Understanding the idea of common Europe and the rules of democracy will help the students develope the sense of unity with their peers from other countries and will lead them to their active citizenship in the future. The teachers on charge of running this project all teach English and represent a high level of the language and IT competences. Moreover they have great skills in working with students, organizing project activities and events. Apart from the coordinating teacher there are three others who will be invoved in the implementation of the project. One of them is ready to take over the duties of the project coordinator, if there is such a need. Suchy Las Primary School has coordinated the process of writing this project and it is going to be the coordinating organization, monitoring the progress and implementation of the project. The school will be responsible for the second LTT. Since 2004 the school has taken part in three Comenius projects and one Erasmus+ project. All the key persons involved in this project have gained their experience in these previous projects and this is their main contribution to the project. "

Working on Teams

 introduction

Recently, more and more of us have to deal with online learning. Most of us have no major problems with this kind of learning and about 33% of students even prefer it. But what about the rest 67%? Luckily for them, the online learning has just ended and we are back at school. The pandemic has changed many areas of our education, for example our project „A school of democracy – we know our rights and duties” got frozen for two years. Some students were lucky to take part in the meeting in Croatia. Unfortunately we still can’t travel abroad and instead of meeting in Poland we have to meet and work on Teams, which is the most popular platform. I know that the Croatian school uses it too. Before we start our work we should consider certain rules which must be followed. Otherwise we will have technical problems and our communication will be very poor. And these are the rules that in our opinion are very important. The conclusion is - if everyone follows these rules, the online project meeting will be much better and much more efficient.

Before the meeting

•     Be punctual and a few minutes before the meeting make sure your computer is charged and  ready

•      Don’t be late, an online class is the same as a regular class

•      You should log in on Teams before the meeting starts. Ppreferably several minutes before the scheduled start time

•     Test the built-in microphone or headphones to verify that the software detects them, you should also test if your internet connection can  support a video conference

•     Prepare and share files or documents before the meeting

•      Elect a speaker

•      Be always updated

During the meeting

•      Turn off the phone and focus on the meeting

•      Ignore outside online activities that may distract you from your class or meeting, such as social media websites, videos or shopping

•      Always turn off your microphone when you are not presenting, but don’t turn the teachers’ and other students’ microphones off.

•      Don’t forget to mute yourself after you are done talking

•      Don’t type on the keyboard constantly because it’s distracting and shows that you’re not paying full attention

•      Be active

•      We must remain in a positive atmosphere despite this difficult period. Be open, friendly and tolerant

•      Participating and following the conservation is important

•      When you want to say something, put your hand up, by clicking on it

•      Before you start speaking you should introduce yourself.

•      Speak slowly and clearly while presenting your topic

•      Speak formally. Speak with confidence

•      Listen carefully but ask when you don’t understand or something is not clear

•      Don’t speak at the same time with others

•      Respect other students and their opinions. Be active, supportive and respectful to the teachers and other students

•      Everyone must be given the opportunity to speak without interruptions

•      Don’t eat and make noise during the virtual meeting. Do have water on standby

•      We shouldn't get distracted. Pay attention to the content that is shared

•      Don’t sit yourself around distractions.

•      Don’t give up if you encounter a technical difficulty during a class, whether you lose Internet connection or accidentally log out of a meeting

After  the meeting

•      Plan the activities everyday for the day to come.

•      Write a recap email, to summerise topics of the meeting and decisions.

•      Prepare your share of duties/work for the next meeting.

Netiquette

•      Don’t record sounds, images or people without permission.

•      Never give your username and your password to other people.

•       Do not share the link of the class with people that do not belong to the project.

•      Don’t create  separate rooms on Teams.
